Travelling to a new place by yourself for the first time can be very daunting, even for those who have spent their whole lives travelling! When I picked Faro as my first solo destination, it was due to its seemingly untouched beauty, historic 'old town', and convenient accessibility to more 'touristy attractions.' However, by the end of my stay, I was in love with the city, and am anxious to return to its comforting, relaxing nature.
Exploring the city was fascinating, in particular I was drawn to the beautiful designs of Portugal's signature tiling in various locations. The old town of Faro was also thrilling to explore; everything seems somewhat untouched, while still blending seamlessly with their more 'modern' architecture. Not to mention the beaches; with their crystal blue waters, isolated from the centre of Faro, it is the perfect place to simply sit and relax for a few hours and enjoy the view.

Whilst researching prior to my trip, I booked a tour to spend the day exploring around the Benagil Caves and the Algarve... and it certainly did NOT disappoint. The beauty of the caves was indescribable, and as you can see, there are even some hidden 'hearts' around the coast! We were also lucky enough to explore a local town nearby called Carvoeiro, which our guide perfectly described as a 'mini Santorini,' with its warm beaches and clear blue seas. We were taken to a popular tourist spot called 'Algar Seco,' where you are able to explore inside a limestone cave and take some unforgettable photos. The experience was one of the best I've ever had, and I would highly recommend it if anyone has the opportunity to visit!

My last day of travelling, I took a little field trip to Estoi. When I was doing my research for my travels, I always love to look for hidden photographic beauties... and hence I discovered this. Pousada Palácio de Estoi (Estoi Palace). Formerly a stately home, this 'palace' has since been converted into a 5* luxury hotel and spa, but you are still able to explore the gardens outside, where you can marvel at the beautifully designed exterior. Originally inspired by the Rococo movement, you are able to see the incredible detail within the carvings, the tiles, and frescoes. You can certainly tell the place has been kept as polished as possible over the years.
It was stunning to capture, and if given the opportunity I would love to explore the interior on my next visit.
